The Hero Backup Stick Season 5 is here!

Things have changed and this is a different model from the previous backup sticks. It is NOT THE SAME anymore so read carefully on the differences and what you need to do!

TLDR:
If you intend to get Boros, the most value method is to buy the Basic Shining Backup stick, then top up the remaining levels (20-40 depending) via funds (especially if you have double recharge).
If you don’t intend to get Boros, just buying the Basic Shining Backup stick and levelling to Lv160 still reaps great rewards for the price.

You will have 70 Boros shards at Lv200, so you need to exchange the wristbands for another 10 shards (you will have sufficient wristbands).

Things are starting to get interesting, as we will see the release of more LSSRs (old ones like Boros, King etc) and new SSRs (G4 etc).

WORTH IT?

The newer model of backup stick has changed to become slightly more expensive for low spenders, but also introduces better rewards. With the introduction of wristbands, LSSRs, and future new SSRs like G4 to be released in this manner, it will be totally up to you if you want to spend.

It used to be that you could just buy the basic stick and grind religiously (after resetting to blue/purple quests) to Lv200. But now due to the caps you will have to top up some lvls if you intend to get Boros.

Boros is great especially since it’s the Esper meta. However one might argue how much value your Boros is going to get considering you will be putting Gyoro/RMG in Extreme Challenges, and whether you have sufficient Esper resources to really buff Boros. Nonetheless, he’s a good replacement for Amai if you do invest in him. He’s also going to be useful as an Esper in Monster Tournament regardless.

Things to note:

If you plan to get Boros, make sure you have 17K diamond in stash (estimation KS release is Mid April 2021) so that you can pull his Keepsake if Developers are putting his KS in Claw Machine
There’s no rush to buy the hero backup now, you can buy the backup later (best time to buy is probably during top up fund bonus rewards in mid April) since the weekly point from green quest is mostly enough.
You CANNOT reset the weekly quests to a different quality. Green will always be green now. You only get 1 blue and 1 purple (if you buy the stick). However the weekly quests can be repeated, until you reach your weekly cap of 650
You can save the wristbands as they will carry over the next season, and you can exchange them for other LSSR shards
You can only get Lv200 by hitting most of the daily/weekly quests limits (see calculation below) + you need to either buy the Expensive backup stick OR buy the rest of the levels with funds
You now cannot hit Lv200 with basic backup stick due to the XP caps
