ur-gw

DISCLAIMER: This guide is more for F2P players with limited BTs. Going forward, I will give insights on why the unit is good or bad, so that you can make your own informed decision. Due to everyone’s own unique line-up, BT count, situation, new units and constantly changing meta, I will NOT be advising on pulling or not.

  • All the SSR+s are strong in their own way. It’s a matter of which one you have to prioritize as an F2P
  • The good news is that, it’s pretty much exactly the same as SSR+. It’s still using 4 Evo stones and 1 Awakening stone, and still requires BT to pull. The only change is that now we need the UR evo stones (red color) instead of the orange ones we have. Hence you have to use up all your SSR+ stones. There is an option to convert 2 SSR+ Stones into 1 UR stone, but at this time I’m not sure if that’s a one-time thing during the UR event, or you can exchange anytime. Guide here!
  • As an F2P, it is too expensive to Awaken Passive 2 any SSR+/UR, I would recommend you pull multiple good SSR+/UR units than to AWK2 one SSR+/UR. However, it depends on your situation and if a particular unit is very good, so if you want to please go ahead. Do note you can continue doing so on the comeback banner if not enough BT (although not as ideal).

SKILL KIT

Basic: Deals 120% ATK to a single target
Ultimate: (No energy cost) Attacks enemies in a column with 5 consecutive strikes, dealing DMG by 450% ATK, last strikes has a 100% chance to cause the main target [Specialized Shatter] for 2 rounds (decrease DMG Free by 12%, deals 180% ATK of [Shatter] DMG when attacked, stacks up to 3 times, does not stack with [Shatter]), has 100% chance to inflict [Stun] on the main target for 1 round (Unable to act, at most 4 characters can be stunned simultaneously)

Passive: Permanently grants himself 55% chance of [Evasion] (Reduce Direct/Extra/Charge/Berserk DMG to 1 DMG). After any character acts, deals 500% ATK of Extra DMG to enemies with [Specialized Shatter], up to 2 times per round.

Awaken Passive: At the start of the battle, grants [Specialized Acceleration] (Increases SPD by 28%, if the main target’s SPD is lower than Gale Wind, deals 500% ATK as Extra DMG). At the start of every round, increase SPD of allies in the same row to 92% of Gale Wind’s SPD, only when ally’s SPD is lower than expected). Grants Immunity against [Fear] and [Energy Removal]. When the round begins, [Encourage] the allies (gains 2 energy at the start of the round, lasts for 3 rounds).

Ultra-Ultimate:
DMG ATK 450% > 600%
Decrease DMG Free 12% > 15%
Shatter DMG 180% > 230%
Chance to inflict stun on main target > +enemy in same column

Extreme Passive:
Evasion Self > +ally in same column
ATK enemies with S.Shatter 2x per round > 3x

5P Passive:
Evasion chance 55% > 60%
ATK Extra DMG 500% > 650%

Awakened 2:
Specialized Acceleration 28% > 32%
ATK Extra DMG 500% > 600%
Increase SPD of allies in same row 92% > 96%
Encourage allies energy gain 2 > 3
Permanent Immunity against Stun

GEAR

Suggested gear:
Stack ATK gear, ATK%x3

SO WHY UR Gale Wind?

Pros:

  • Lots of utility – Gale Wind provides Stun, S.Shatter, Speed boost to allies, Encourage (extra energy)
  • Ultimate doesn’t cost any energy so that’s always good

Cons:

  • The Stun only affects 1 target, not the best compared to the old GW and MK+ for stunning purposes (you need KS for extra stun to same column enemy)
  • Not the best unit if you already have UR Sonic, as he also provides speed boost and encourage
  • Best when combined with other Specialized Shatter allies, such as UR AS
  • Doesn’t really provide a lot of value for PVE, he’s more of a PVP unit.

FINAL THOUGHTS

If you already have UR Sonic or a speedsters, I would think you can skip GW as he doesn’t provide much then. If this is your first speedster + encourage, then it might be a great addition for your team, depending on your setup and whether you have enough BTs for upcoming units.

WHAT ABOUT KS?

If you want the extra Stun to enemy in same column but personally I don’t think it’s worth it.
