DISCLAIMER: This guide is more for F2P players with limited BTs. Going forward, I will give insights on why the unit is good or bad, so that you can make your own informed decision. Due to everyone’s own unique line-up, BT count, situation, new units and constantly changing meta, I will NOT be advising on pulling or not.
- All the SSR+s are strong in their own way. It’s a matter of which one you have to prioritize as an F2P
- The good news is that, it’s pretty much exactly the same as SSR+. It’s still using 4 Evo stones and 1 Awakening stone, and still requires BT to pull. The only change is that now we need the UR evo stones (red color) instead of the orange ones we have. Hence you have to use up all your SSR+ stones. There is an option to convert 2 SSR+ Stones into 1 UR stone, but at this time I’m not sure if that’s a one-time thing during the UR event, or you can exchange anytime. Guide here!
- As an F2P, it is too expensive to Awaken Passive 2 any SSR+/UR, I would recommend you pull multiple good SSR+/UR units than to AWK2 one SSR+/UR. However, it depends on your situation and if a particular unit is very good, so if you want to please go ahead. Do note you can continue doing so on the comeback banner if not enough BT (although not as ideal).
SKILL KIT
Basic: Threaten single target, causing target to [Break] for 2 rounds (decrease 20% DMG Rate), recover 20% ATK of HP
Ultimate: Heals all allies by King’s 150% Max HP , grants allies in the same row [Specialized Berserk] (First strike deals Berserk DMG by 50% of King’s Max HP, with a chance of Crit, consumes 150 points of Energy Gauge for every enemy hit), lasts for 1 round
Passive: When battle begins, allies in the same row obtain 3 rounds of [Overflow Recovery] (Excess HP from Heal and Drain turns into equivalent amount of [Life Shield], accumulated DMG removed willl not be more than 20x of his Original HP). Heals by 450% of King’s Max HP. Before any character acts, remove [Paralysis] from himself and allies in the same row.
Awaken Passive: After any ally acts, King and allies in the same row perform [Combo Follow-up] (100% DMG and 100% effect of Ultimate skill, random targets, not affected by Hit/Res), once per round. Allies in the same row share 50% Direct DMG with King. Shared DMG is reduced by 50%, cannot share DMG when HP is below 30%
Ultra-Ultimate:
Healing – additional 100% Max HP of [Specialized Guard]
Overflow Recovery Same row > All allies
Berserk DMG 50% > 150%
Consumes Energy Gauge 150 > 100
Extreme Passive:
Heals 450% > 600%
Before actions – removes Adhesion from himself and all allies in the same row
5P Passive:
Overflow recovery 3 rounds > 5 rounds
Awakened 2:
Combo Follow-up DMG 100% > 150%
Perform Combo Follow-up once in first round > twice in first round
Allies same row share DMG 50% > 60%
Shared DMG reduction 50% > 80%
GEAR
Suggested gear:
Stack HP gear, HP%x3
SO WHY UR KING?
Pros:
- Super AOE heals! This is synergizes well with Boros core. Better still, the healing also adds S.Guard but you’ll need the KS for that!
- Remember DSK Combo Follow-up? Well, KING has a combo follow-up on steroids. It allows KING and allies in the same ROW to Follow-up at 100% efficiency. This means 3 units will Follow-up instead of 2.
- Support for allies due to shared damage, and also Berserk buff
- Because of his heals + follow-up, he is a very unique support unit. As such, useful PVE/PVP, and maybe even PVB if you can use the right units for the Follow-Up.
- Cheap to use, doesn’t really require expensive gear. Just slot him in for the Follow-up and passives.
Cons:
- Requires KS
- KING is a support, so pulling him doesn’t do much if your other units are weak. You’ll still need strong main DPS, otherwise KING is merely just extending the battle duration of your loss. In other words, KING won’t carry you.
- Lots of Hero units recently, so if you’re lacking on Monster side you might want to save up for those (eg UR Gale)
FINAL THOUGHTS
KING is a super good unit if you already have a relatively strong line-up, (ie strong DPS like Suiryu or MB). What is mainly so good about him is 1) his follow-up, and 2) S.Guard. Because he doesn’t need to move first, you can just stack HP gear on him and not SPD. This complements well with his abilities since his healing is based on his Max HP.
- His follow-up is great because it allows the whole row to ult, and it’s a guaranteed follow-up after any ally acts, unlike DSK’s. What this means is that your whole team can essentially ult even before the enemy makes a single move.
How? You just need a maxed out Speedster in 1 row, and KING in the other row. So for example Sonic will ult first, then KING follow-up triggers and KING’s row ults at 100% efficiency. After which Sonic’s row will move next due to the acceleration from Sonic’s ult. With this strategy you can possibly wipe out the enemy in the very first round. Even better if you AWK2 KING, then the follow-up will be TWICE! - KING’s healing will additionally provide S.Guard when he has KS. This essentially doubles the survivability.
WHAT ABOUT KS?
If you’re pulling KING then it is highly recommended to pull his KS.
