UR melzargard

DISCLAIMER: This guide is more for F2P players with limited BTs. Going forward, I will give insights on why the unit is good or bad, so that you can make your own informed decision. Due to everyone’s own unique line-up, BT count, situation, new units and constantly changing meta, I will NOT be advising on pulling or not.

  • All the SSR+s are strong in their own way. It’s a matter of which one you have to prioritize as an F2P
  • The good news is that, it’s pretty much exactly the same as SSR+. It’s still using 4 Evo stones and 1 Awakening stone, and still requires BT to pull. The only change is that now we need the UR evo stones (red color) instead of the orange ones we have. Hence you have to use up all your SSR+ stones. There is an option to convert 2 SSR+ Stones into 1 UR stone, but at this time I’m not sure if that’s a one-time thing during the UR event, or you can exchange anytime. Guide here!
  • As an F2P, it is too expensive to Awaken Passive 2 any SSR+/UR, I would recommend you pull multiple good SSR+/UR units than to AWK2 one SSR+/UR. However, it depends on your situation and if a particular unit is very good, so if you want to please go ahead. Do note you can continue doing so on the comeback banner if not enough BT (although not as ideal).

UR Melzargard (Esper/Monster) [Dragon]

Basic: Deals 130% ATK to a single target
Ultimate: Attacks enemies in a cross-shaped with 3 consecutive strikes, dealing DMG by 600% ATK, last strike has a 100% chance to cause the main target [Specialized Shatter] for 3 rounds (decrease DMG Free by 10%, deals 250% ATK of [Shatter] DMG when attacked, stacks up to 3 times, does not stack with [Shatter])

Passive: After Melzargard and allies act, extend enemies [Specialized Shatter] status to 4 rounds. After any character acts, if the enemy character has 3 stacks of [Specialized Shatter], immediately [Detonate] (Single shatter DMG of 500% turns into [Detonation] DMG). Removes [Revival] effect from enemy, lasts for the whole battle

Awaken Passive: At the start of the battle, remains [Undefeated] for 3 rounds (If receive Non-Crit Fatal DMG, remains 20% HP without getting knocked down, and resist Crit Fatal DMG 3 times. Depends whether the first strike deals Crit DMG). Permanently grants 100% Crit Res Rate and 50% Non-Crit DMG Free, [Immune] against [Charm/Off Battle]

Ultra-Ultimate:
DMG ATK 600% > 750%
S.Shatter decrease DMG Free 10% > 15%
S.Shatter DMG 250% > 350%

Extreme Passive:
Detonate Shatter DMG 500% > 650%

5P Passive:
Detonate Shatter DMG 650% > 800%

Awakened 2:
Undefeated 3 rounds > 5 rounds
Resist Fatal Damage 3x > 55x
Crit Res Rate 100% > 130%
Non-CRIT DMG Free 50% > 65%

Notes

1. Detonation cannot be [Evaded], the 1 DMG is due to [Specialized Unyielding]
2. [Shatter] DMG and [Shatter] in the [Detonation] DMG are separately calculated, AS will deal his 200% and Melz will deal its 250% [Shatter] DMG (without keepsake)

SO WHY UR Melzargard?

Pros:

  • S.Shatter application, also good synergy with S.Shatter units
  • Detonation for Shatter
  • Removal of Revival effect from enemy which last the whole battle, so it’s a very strong counter to revive units such as Phoenixman and SSR+ Melzargard.
  • Immune against Charm and Remove from Battle

Cons:

  • Esper slots are competitive, especially if you have both UR Boros and KING
  • I don’t think the removal of revival effect applies to bosses as that would be too strong (I could be wrong) but if so then it’s not super useful for PVE, more of a PVP unit
  • Better upcoming UR Units
  • Not many players (at least from my own experience/server) use PPP+ (for Charm) and PXM+/Pig God (remove from battle) anyways, so the immunity against those are not very useful. Maybe good for PVE if there are such cases but it’s still very niche

FINAL THOUGHTS

Overall a decent unit but nothing really to get excited about. If you already don’t even have any S.Shatter units to synergise with such as UR AS and GW, you might as well skip this too. I would suggest saving BT for the better upcoming units such as UR Hellfire, Genos and Gouketsu.

WHAT ABOUT KS?

Nopeee.
